ASELSAN successfully demonstrates autonomous drone-to-drone interception system in Turkey
Turkish defense firm ASELSAN showcased its GÖKALP system, using an interceptor drone to destroy a target drone in mid-air during a field test.
The trial took place at ASELSAN's Oğulbey Technology Base, where an AURA radar identified the target UAV. Command-and-control software then guided a GÖKALP E1 interceptor drone to engage and eliminate the hostile drone. The system combines radar, electro-optical sensors and autonomous drones, offering a mobile, cost-effective solution for counter-UAV defense. ASELSAN highlighted the successful integration of all components under realistic conditions.
Why it matters
It shows Turkey advancing home-grown, mobile defenses against the growing threat of hostile drones.
