Asian Christian Leaders Gather in Jerusalem to Bolster Pro-Israel Support

Over 550 evangelical figures from 51 nations, including Filipino Bishop David A. Sobrepeña, attended a ten-day Eagles’ Wings tour in Jerusalem to express solidarity with Israel.

A multinational group of more than 550 prominent Christian leaders gathered in Jerusalem for a ten-day Eagles’ Wings delegation, timed with the Jewish festival of Sukkot and the third anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack. Among the attendees was senior Filipino pastor Bishop David A. Sobrepeña, founder of Word of Hope Christian Ministries, who emphasized the spiritual significance of praying in Jerusalem and sharing Israeli stories with Asian congregations.

The tour, coordinated with Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, showcased the expanding pro-Israel sentiment among evangelical communities in the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore and other Global South nations. Organizers cited the need to counter rising antisemitic incidents in North America and Europe, where groups like the ADL and Hillel reported record numbers of attacks. Highlights included a worship service at the Tower of David, streamed by Daystar Television Network, and ongoing programs such as the “Israel Experience” for college students. Analysts suggest that these religious ties could become a strategic diplomatic asset for Israel as it seeks allies beyond traditional Western partners.

Why it matters

The gathering shows how Asian evangelical networks are becoming a key source of pro-Israel advocacy amid rising Western antisemitism.
