A 20-year-old Assam student warned her family about intoxicated men on a train, lost contact early on Oct 6 and her body was later found near railway tracks in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh.
Himashri Boro, a 20-year-old student from Bonda, Assam, boarded Train No. 22503 at Visakhapatnam around 12:15 am on Oct 6 after a dance competition, heading back alone for an exam. Shortly after boarding, she called her sister-in-law and a friend, expressing discomfort because the coach was surrounded by inebriated men and sent them a video of the scene. She vanished from contact between 2:30 am and 3 am, leading her family to alert railway helplines, which dispatched Railway Protection Force personnel to check on her.
The RPF searched the train at Srikakulam Road station but found no trace; her body was later recovered between Ponduru and Dusi sections in Srikakulam district. Authorities have moved the remains to Government RIMS Hospital for autopsy and are gathering statements from passengers and reviewing CCTV footage. The Assam government, represented by MLA Tapan Das, is coordinating to return the body and ensure a thorough investigation.
