Associate of Orbán Áron released while partner remains detained in visa-business probe
M. János, known as Macsek, was freed from custody in the visa-business investigation linked to Orbán Áron, while his alleged accomplice G.B. stays in detention.
M. János, identified as Macsek, is no longer in detention following his arrest in the visa-business scandal that also implicates Orbán Áron. His fellow suspect, identified only as G.B., remains held. The inquiry, originally handled by the Central Prosecutor's Office (KNYF), was reassigned to the National Asset Recovery and Protection Office (NVHH), which has not commented on the specifics of Macsek's release.
The scandal emerged after a leaked audio recording revealed Orbán Áron discussing visa matters with a senior official in the Prime Minister's Office. Subsequent investigations uncovered internal correspondence and additional recordings, though a key whistle-blower died before the case progressed. The authorities continue to probe possible involvement of higher-level officials and other influential actors linked to the visa-business operations.
