Asus ROG Swift PG27UCWM OLED Monitor Review: Premium Performance with a Glossy Trade-off

The Asus PG27UCWM 27-inch 4K OLED monitor delivers high contrast, vivid colors and smooth 240 Hz motion, but its reflective finish and $1,200 price may limit appeal.

Asus has introduced the ROG Swift PG27UCWM, a 27-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor that employs the latest RGB Stripe sub-pixel layout to improve text clarity and color volume. The screen delivers a peak brightness of about 800 nits, supports Dolby Vision HDR, and can run at 240 Hz in native 4K or switch to a 1080p mode that reaches 480 Hz for ultra-fast esports play. Its TrueBlack high-gloss finish enhances perceived contrast but also produces mirror-like reflections that may be distracting in well-lit environments.

The unit is packed with premium features, including Aura Sync RGB lighting, a robust ergonomic stand with a large base, a 1/4-inch mount for streaming gear, and extensive connectivity via two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 2.1, and a USB-C port that supplies 90 W to a laptop. Despite its strong performance and a three-year warranty, the monitor’s $1,200 retail price positions it above more affordable alternatives such as the PG27UCDM and MSI’s MPG 272URX, making it a niche choice for enthusiasts seeking the newest OLED technology.

Why it matters

The review shows how cutting-edge OLED panels improve gaming visuals but also highlights cost and reflectivity issues for consumers.
