Atle Wester Larsen, 52, a journalist working for Halden Arbeiderblad and father of Norway striker Jørgen Strand Larsen, announced his prostate cancer diagnosis, noting the disease has metastasized and is inoperable. He began a regimen of daily radiation treatments at Ullevål Hospital and hormone therapy, which has significantly reduced his PSA levels while producing intense hot flashes. The prognosis given by his oncologist was an average life expectancy of 12-13 years, a figure that struck him hard.

Throughout the summer, he traveled to the World Cup in New Jersey and later to Manhattan, supporting the national team from the stands. The treatment schedule forces him to travel to Oslo each day, making it difficult to forget his condition. He expressed that the illness has been tough on his children and family, but they keep busy with other activities. Looking ahead, he plans to watch Norway’s upcoming matches against Denmark and Portugal at Ullevål Stadium in September.
