Auditor-General Wan Suraya Elected ASOSAI Secretary-General, Malaysia to Host Secretariat

The 63rd Governing Board of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) convened in Astana, Kazakhstan, where Auditor-General Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi was unanimously elected Secretary-General for the 2027-2030 term. Her appointment returns the secretariat to Malaysia for the first time since 1982, with the National Audit Department taking over from China’s National Audit Office. In this role she will manage programme planning, board affairs, member communications and the organisation’s finances, drawing on her experience leading ASEAN and INTOSAI audit committees.

During the Astana session Wan Suraya presented progress on the ASOSAI Working Group on State-Owned Enterprises Audit, which is drafting regional guidelines to be launched at the 2027 Assembly in Jeddah. The meeting also included a memorandum of understanding with Korea’s Board of Audit and Inspection and bilateral talks with officials from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran and Pakistan, as well as plans for a 2026 workshop on performance audits of public works projects.
