AUR leader defends party's role in farmer protest and mocks president over government talks

During a parliamentary session, George Simion, the head of AUR, stated he lacks evidence that any party members took part in the violent episodes that unfolded at the farmer protest in Piața Victoriei. He emphasized that attending peaceful demonstrations is a lawful activity for citizens, including AUR deputies, members and supporters. Simion dismissed accusations that the party is linked to criminal acts, calling such claims unfounded and demanding proper legal investigation.

When questioned about whether AUR would join the consultations at the Cotroceni Palace to select a new prime minister, he answered with irony and described President Nicușor Dan as a "confuser" of the nation. The comments were made while the gendarmerie reported that ten officers were wounded, four required hospital care, and a man carrying a 20-centimetre knife was detained as part of the ongoing probe.
