AUR leader George Simion calls for Nicușor Dan's suspension over alleged handcuff order

Simion announced a campaign to collect signatures from members of Parliament, noting that a third of the chamber must back the motion to proceed. In August, AUR introduced the website suspEND.ro to monitor the suspension drive, framing it as a legitimate constitutional mechanism when the head of state severely violates legal obligations.

Simion argued the move is not intended to create chaos but stems from Dan's refusal to call early elections to resolve the political deadlock. Should a parliamentary vote occur, a majority of 233 votes would be needed, followed by a referendum requiring a majority of participants and at least 30% voter turnout for validation.
