AUR leader Simion says election-cancellation report to be tabled in Parliament next Tuesday
George Simion announced that the Abuse Commission will present its report on the 2024 presidential election cancellation to Parliament on Tuesday.
During a televised appearance, AUR head George Simion declared that the Abuse Commission’s dossier concerning the cancellation of the 2024 presidential election is scheduled for submission to the Romanian Parliament on Tuesday. Simion emphasized that this document is not the version President Nicușor Dan pledged to release after his electoral victory, asserting the promised report will never be seen. Dan had previously said that the report’s postponement stemmed from the need to translate highly technical evidence into a format understandable to the public.
He identified the illegal zero-expense declaration by former candidate Călin Georgescu and documented Russian interference, as outlined by the General Prosecutor’s Office, as key factors behind the election’s nullification. The upcoming parliamentary presentation is expected to detail these findings and additional undisclosed evidence.
Why it matters
The pending report will expose the reasons behind the 2024 presidential election’s annulment and could shape Romania’s political landscape.
