AUR leads Romanian voter preferences while overwhelming public doubts the country's direction
A recent Avangarde poll shows AUR at 36% support, ahead of PSD and PNL, and reveals that 88% of Romanians believe the nation is heading the wrong way.
Avangarde's CATI poll of 1,020 respondents, carried out from 12 to 22 September, placed the party led by George Simion at the top of voter intentions with 36% support. The Social Democratic Party (PSD) gathered 23%, the National Liberal Party (PNL) 16%, and the Save Romania Union (USR) only 8%. The study also highlighted deep public pessimism: 88% of participants said the country is heading in the wrong direction, compared with a mere 8% who believe it is on the right track.
Regarding the interim prime minister, Ilie Bolojan, 76% judged his leadership as rather poor. The poll was conducted by the socio-behavioral research firm Avangarde SRL, owned entirely by sociologist Marius Pieleanu.
