Aurora Ecozone Plans 1-GW Solar Project with Japanese-Chinese Partner
The Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority announced a partnership with Huge Energy Co. Ltd. to develop a 1-gigawatt solar power plant at its Casiguran site.
Apeco is moving forward with a large renewable-energy scheme that will be built in three stages. The first stage will include a photovoltaic solar farm, a battery energy storage system and a new substation. The project will be carried out with Huge Energy Co. Ltd., the Japanese arm of China’s Xiamen Huge Energy. The development aims to draw additional investors to the Aurora ecozone.
Why it matters
The project could significantly increase renewable power capacity in the Philippines and attract further investment to the Aurora ecozone.
