Australia's Cameron Myers and Scotland's Josh Kerr set to headline mile comeback in Glasgow

The mile, absent from the Commonwealth Games since 1966, makes a comeback at this year’s Glasgow meet, reviving a historic distance that once saw Roger Bannister break the four-minute barrier. Australian prodigy Cameron Myers, fresh off an Australian record of 3:46.06, will face Scotland’s 1500m world champion Josh Kerr, who recently ran 3:42.66, in what promises to be a marquee duel. Myers, eager to upset the home crowd, described his intent to “spoil the party” for the Scots.

Alongside the men’s race, three Australian women—Abbey Caldwell, Jessica Hull and Claudia Hollingsworth—are targeting a clean sweep of the women's mile medals. The event, held at Scotstoun Stadium, offers a chance for Australia to rewrite the narrative of the 1954 “Miracle Mile” and for the Games to showcase a revived middle-distance classic.
