Australian father and two young children found dead in Bali home, suspected murder-suicide

Police in Bali uncovered the bodies of Perth-born Damien John Shaw, 56, and his two children, aged four and six, inside a rented bungalow in Kuta on Sunday morning. The children’s mother, who had traveled to Jakarta days earlier, called a neighbour in distress after hearing a child crying during a phone conversation with her husband and being unable to reach him again. After the neighbour and another resident failed to see anyone through the window, a local community leader arrived with additional neighbours, forced the door open, and found the three dead.

The family had been leasing the property since 2022, with the contract extending to 2029. Indonesian investigators are performing autopsies to confirm the suspected double murder-suicide, while Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular support to the grieving relatives.
