Australian filmmaker Adrian Chiarella signs with Anonymous Content after Sundance success

Anonymous Content announced that it will represent Melbourne-based writer-director Adrian Chiarella, beating several rival agencies that had pursued him. The signing follows the critical acclaim for Chiarella’s first feature, Leviticus, a queer horror movie that premiered at Sundance and was lauded for its tightly constructed narrative and thematic relevance. Produced by Causeway Films and sold to Neon for a seven-figure sum, the film subsequently played at SXSW, screened in Sydney, and entered theaters with a cast that includes Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, Jeremy Blewitt and Ewen Leslie.

Chiarella explained that he chose horror to explore contemporary homophobia, drawing on personal experiences and the genre’s capacity to examine fear. He is already represented in Australia by WME, Jackoway Austen Tyerman and Cameron’s Management, and his television work includes Totally Completely Fine, Erotic Stories and Five Bedrooms.
