Australian PM weighs opt-out AI copyright model during Apple Park visit

Anthony Albanese visited Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, where he met with Tim Cook and senior Apple staff and raised the issue of AI governance. He indicated that Australia might adopt an opt-out copyright regime, letting AI developers train models on existing works unless rights holders opt out, a proposal opposed by many creators. Albanese emphasized that mitigating AI risks demands corporate safety protocols, national standards to be legislated before the end of the year, and an international framework being debated at the UN General Assembly.
