Australian rock legend Angry Anderson dies at 79 after recent heart emergency

Angry Anderson, the iconic vocalist of Rose Tattoo, died at 79 on Monday night, with family members by his side, according to a post on the band’s social channels. He had been admitted to hospital on August 31 after suffering a cardiac arrest, and his family thanked the public for prayers and support. Born Gary Anderson in Melbourne in 1947, he fronted Rose Tattoo from 1976, delivering classics such as “Bad Boy for Love” and “Rock’n’Roll Outlaw.”

His career also included a solo hit “Suddenly,” featured on the TV show Neighbours, and a role as Ironbar Bassey in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. In 1993 he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for youth advocacy. He is survived by children Galen, Roxanne, and Blaine; his eldest son Liam was killed in a 2018 attack by Matthew Flame.
