Australian sprint champion Jake Doran charged with child sexual offence in Queensland

Jake Doran, the 2022 Australian 100m champion, has been charged with indecent treatment of a child in Queensland.

Jake Doran, a former national sprint champion and Commonwealth Games competitor, was charged last week with indecent treatment of a child in Townsville, Queensland. The 26-year-old has been stripped of any role within Australian Athletics, which imposed a provisional action preventing him from attending or participating in any athletics activities. Australian Athletics stressed that the safety and wellbeing of participants is paramount and that it treats such allegations seriously.

The body declined further comment, noting the matter is now under police investigation. Doran was previously the Australian 100m champion in 2022 and the 200m champion in 2023. He also experienced a burglary at his home last year when teenagers stole his car.
