Australian tourist killed after slipping off cliff at Bali's Kelingking Beach

On Saturday morning, a 29-year-old Australian tourist staying at a hostel in Ped Village fell from the cliff at Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida, an island off Bali's south-eastern coast. A local lifeguard, contacted by another tourist about a stranded individual on the cliff face, arrived to verify the situation and called for help just as the woman slipped and descended to the beach below. The Nusa Penida Sector Police and the island's Search and Rescue team launched an evacuation, transporting her by ambulance to Griya Medica Clinic in Banjar Nyuh, where she was found with multiple fractures to her left arm and leg and numerous lacerations.

She was later transferred to a larger regional hospital, and arrangements are being made with the Australian Embassy. Indonesian officials have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the fall, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade was contacted for comment.
