Austria's diplomats meet Canada and Iran amid UN General Assembly security lockdown in New York
Austria's foreign minister Stocker will meet Canadian leader Carney, and Austrian official Meinl-Reisinger aims to see Iran's foreign minister during the UN General Assembly in New York, as the city enforces extensive security measures.
The UN General Assembly has turned Manhattan’s east side into a restricted zone, with road closures and a heightened police presence. Austria, set to join the UN Security Council, is sending Stocker to discuss matters with Canada’s Premier Carney. At the same time, Austrian diplomat Meinl-Reisinger plans a meeting with Iran’s foreign minister. The Secret Service and diplomatic missions are operating at increased capacity along the East River.
