Austrian Husband Accused of Drugging, Assaulting and Killing Wife; Neighbor Also Accused

In Märchtr, Upper Austria, a 39‑year‑old woman was found unconscious on a water mattress by her teenage daughter, prompting emergency responders. Her 51‑year‑old husband, who was intoxicated, told police the injuries resulted from "hard sex," but prosecutors allege he repeatedly drugged her and facilitated sexual assaults by other men, even searching online for ways to incapacitate a person. Text messages reportedly show him offering the woman to men for up to 500 euros per session and referring to her as "dead meat."

A neighbor is also accused of taking part in two assaults and having exchanged messages with the husband about the abuse. Both the husband and the neighbor remain in custody while investigators continue to look for additional participants.
