Austrian media veteran Gerhard Zeiler exits Skydance amid Austrian political shifts
Gerhard Zeiler, the 71-year-old former ORF chief, announced his departure from Skydance after Paramount completed its takeover of Warner.
The Austrian media executive, who moved from RTL to Warner in 2012 to oversee international operations, sent a letter to staff confirming his exit from Skydance. Earlier, Zeiler had publicly sought the SPÖ party chair, intensifying calls for the replacement of leader Andreas Babler. He has since stopped speaking about his SPÖ ambitions and pledged support to Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer, who expects him to become vice chancellor in early 2027.
Why it matters
Zeiler's exit signals a shift in both a major media company and Austrian political dynamics.
