AusTriathlon launches Gold Coast high-performance hub to gear up for Brisbane 2032
AusTriathlon inaugurated a new high-performance centre at the Miami Aquatic Centre on the Gold Coast, positioning Australian triathletes for the upcoming 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
AusTriathlon officially opened a state-of-the-art high-performance hub at the Miami Aquatic Centre on the Gold Coast, creating a central base for the nation’s top triathletes and the Ascent Academy’s developing talent. Seventeen-year-old prodigy Aspen Anderson described the facility as a morale boost, noting how teammates help each other through tough workouts. Reigning world champion Matt Hauser echoed the sentiment, stressing that training together and simulating race conditions will elevate performance as Brisbane 2032 approaches.
The centre also welcomes newly appointed coaches, including former European champion Non Stanford-Royle and ex-world champion Daniel Unger, to enhance technical guidance. Anderson, a double Youth Commonwealth gold medallist, recently competed in the World Triathlon Championship Series, while Hauser’s 2023 world title in Wollongong marked Australia’s return to the sport’s summit. The hub’s establishment signals a strategic push to maximise home-field advantage for the 2032 Games.
Why it matters
The new hub centralises elite training, boosting Australia’s chances of triathlon success at the home-based 2032 Olympics.
