Authentic Brands Group Takes Majority Control of Drake's OVO Brand

Authentic Brands Group has purchased a controlling interest in the October’s Very Own (OVO) label, while Drake retains a minority share and will guide its creative direction.

Authentic Brands Group disclosed that it has acquired a majority ownership in October’s Very Own, the lifestyle brand created by rapper Drake. Under the deal, Drake keeps a minority equity position and will remain involved in steering the brand's creative vision. Authentic will work alongside Vince Holding Corp. to handle design, product development, and the retail rollout of OVO merchandise.

Drake praised the arrangement, noting that the two Toronto natives are now partnering with larger partners to pursue bigger ambitions. Jamie Salter, founder and executive chairman of Authentic, highlighted OVO's cultural influence and the opportunity to broaden its reach globally. The transaction adds to Authentic's portfolio, which already includes licensing agreements with high-profile athletes and the ownership of legacy brands such as Brooks Brothers and Champion.

Why it matters

The deal expands a major celebrity-driven fashion label and signals further growth for Authentic Brands Group's licensing empire.
