Axel Rudakubana to face court on assault charges after transfer to Broadmoor

Axel Rudakubana, who received a life term for the July 2024 Taylor Swift-themed dance class murders of three children and attempted murder of several others, is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court by video on Monday. Court documents list three charges: attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in May 2025, assaulting an emergency worker in October 2025, and possession of an offensive weapon - described as stone shards - in June 2025.

In May of the previous year, he was accused of pouring boiling water over a prison officer. The Ministry of Justice transferred him to Broadmoor psychiatric hospital in July, where offenders with severe mental disorders receive treatment rather than imprisonment. Under the Mental Health Act, such transfers follow clinical advice, and patients must engage in therapy before any possible return to prison.
