Ayuso unveils new teacher career ladder with up to €350 monthly raise

Madrid's regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso announced a six-level professional track for teachers that could add as much as €350 to monthly salaries.

Isabel Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid, introduced a six-step career progression for regional teachers at the State of the Region debate. The scheme ties salary increases to accumulated merit, years of service, academic training, participation in projects, educational innovation and additional responsibilities. Each step provides a higher pay band, with the top tier granting up to €350 extra each month, regardless of other bonuses.

Ayuso framed the measure as essential for retaining talent and encouraging teachers to go beyond classroom duties. The announcement coincided with other education initiatives, including expanded support for students with autism and longer educational contracts. The regional education ministry will negotiate the detailed implementation with teachers' representatives.
