Bacterial vectors engineered to deliver chemotherapy agents directly into tumors

Researchers have developed bacteria that can transport drug molecules into cancer cells, offering a novel approach to targeted therapy.

A team of scientists engineered bacterial strains to act as microscopic couriers, loading them with anti-cancer compounds that are released inside tumors. Laboratory tests showed that the bacteria can infiltrate tumor tissue and deposit the drugs where they are needed most, potentially reducing side effects. The work builds on earlier studies of microbial drug delivery and could pave the way for new clinical strategies.
