Balancing higher minimum wage with small business viability and police quarters funding

During a visit to the Kluang District Police Headquarters, a senior official highlighted that any increase in the minimum wage, including a potential RM2,000 level, must be balanced against the cost pressures faced by micro, small and medium enterprises. He said the final decision will be deferred until the Prime Minister announces the 2027 budget. The spokesperson also outlined a federal allocation of RM127 million for the repair and maintenance of police quarters and stations under the Rolling Plan Pertama 2026 of the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan.

Of this, RM44.35 million is for police stations and RM77.65 million for 3,716 quarters, with RM3.7 million directed to Kluang for upgrades to ten blocks and other premises. He stressed that the targeted spending is intended to address real needs and improve public service effectiveness.
