The family alleges he was beaten and kicked repeatedly, leading to life-threatening injuries that required three major surgeries. Police pronounced him dead on Thursday afternoon, more than two weeks after the incident.
Liam Dougan, his son, posted emotional messages and confirmed the family’s presence in Bali. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade reported no consular assistance was being provided, and the Gosnells Football Club issued a statement mourning his loss. One outlet has withheld photographs pending family permission.
