Ballot paper problems top the list of reported election incidents

Authorities responsible for election oversight report that the majority of incidents this cycle concern issues with ballot papers, such as theft, loss or relocation. About 25% of the reports involve problems at vote-receiving centres, including early-vote checks and handling errors. Roughly 7% concern alleged undue influence, like relatives trying to sway voters, as well as breaches of ballot secrecy, illegal propaganda and vandalism. New mandatory reporting rules prevent comparison with previous elections, and officials say there is no evidence that these incidents have altered the preliminary results.
