Baltic nations impose national bans on two Russian oligarchs removed from EU list

After the EU removed two Russian oligarchs from its sanctions roster, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania each introduced their own punitive measures. The individuals named are Alisjer Oesmanov and Michaïl Fridman, both described as supporters of Russia's aggression in Ukraine. Latvia led the response by announcing national sanctions, with Estonia and Lithuania joining shortly thereafter.

Lithuania's initial step is an entry prohibition, though it intends to also freeze the pair's financial holdings. Estonia's foreign minister, Margus Tsahkna, argued that Russia's ongoing war provides no reason to ease sanction pressure. The coordinated Baltic action underscores regional resolve to counter perceived Russian support for the conflict.
