Banca Transilvania targets €100 bn assets and cross-border acquisitions by 2030
Banca Transilvania announced at its Investor Day a plan to pursue overseas acquisitions and reach €100 bn in assets by 2030, expanding its client base beyond 7.5 million.
During its flagship Investor Day, Banca Transilvania - the biggest Romanian bank - unveiled a growth plan that couples rapid organic expansion with targeted acquisitions in other markets. The strategy seeks to achieve €100 bn in assets by 2030 and increase the client base to over 7.5 million, promising operational efficiencies and benefits for shareholders and the broader economy. Over the past ten years the bank’s assets grew from RON 47.6 bn to RON 224.4 bn, a 4.7-fold rise, while profit rose 3.5-fold and average ROE stayed at 21.4%.
Shareholder returns have totaled 361% since 2020, and the institution has attracted €4.5 bn from capital markets since 2023. Its retail division now serves 4.5 million active customers, holding the largest loan portfolio in Romania and a growing base of savings and investment product holders. The presentation did not specify which banks might be targeted, leaving the acquisition details open.
