Bangladesh urges continued dialogue with India despite lingering disputes, says foreign minister

State minister for foreign affairs Humayun Kobir told reporters in Sylhet that Bangladesh aims to maintain a working relationship with India, calling for continued dialogue despite existing frictions. He noted that current tensions include the extradition case involving former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh's growing cooperation with China and Pakistan. Kobir argued that foreign, economic and security policies are inseparable and should support one another, stressing the need for integrated foreign policy.
He said economic cooperation is a crucial component of this engagement. While acknowledging "thousands of problems and challenges" with India, Kobir insisted the door to discussion will always stay open. The remarks underline Bangladesh's desire to balance its regional partnerships while preserving ties with its largest neighbour.
