Bangladeshi Migrant Arrested After Knife Assault Injures Two at Hong Kong Estate
Police detained a 22-year-old Bangladeshi migrant named Khan following a knife attack at Baguio Villa that left a foreign domestic helper and a security guard hospitalized.
On August 10, Hong Kong police arrested a 22-year-old Bangladeshi migrant identified as Khan after he launched a knife assault at the Baguio Villa residential complex in the Southern District. Leaving his apartment in Block 47, he first attempted to stab a male passerby, who managed to dodge the attack. Khan then confronted a security guard, leading to a physical altercation, and subsequently stabbed a foreign domestic helper in the back as he fled the scene.
The domestic helper and the guard were taken to hospital for treatment. Local social-media reports and The Organiser highlighted the randomness of the victims. Investigators are now focusing on whether the act aligns with extremist jihadist rhetoric or represents an isolated criminal episode.
