Bank Negara Malaysia announced that financial institutions should provide relief measures to Malaysians affected by the recent floods on the Nepal-China border.
Bank Negara Malaysia issued a statement urging financial service providers to extend appropriate assistance to Malaysians whose families were impacted by the floods along the Nepal-China border. Measures may include deferring loan repayments, waiving fees and charges, and easing documentation requirements pending legal finalisation. The central bank also highlighted the need to prioritise the validation of policy or certificate status and to expedite insurance and takaful claim payments.
It advised next of kin to approach their respective banks for suitable support. BNM committed to working closely with banks to guarantee prompt delivery of aid to those affected by the disaster.
