Bank of America launches $250 billion plan to upgrade U.S. infrastructure

Bank of America announced a $250 billion Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative to fund a wide range of U.S. projects through mid-2027.

Bank of America unveiled a Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative that seeks to mobilize $250 billion for U.S. infrastructure upgrades, covering digital assets, energy facilities and core systems like transport and water. The financing will be delivered through a mix of primary-market lending, investments, capital-market transactions and advisory work between January 1 2026 and July 4 2027. Jim DeMare, the bank’s co-president, highlighted the program as a testament to the institution’s long-standing support for the American economy and its role in fostering energy security and technological leadership.

The initiative is expected to generate tens of thousands of jobs across construction, manufacturing, technology and operations. Bank of America’s Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams will lead the effort, backed by all eight business lines. The $250 billion target aligns with the bank’s broader $1.5 trillion, ten-year sustainable finance objectives.

Why it matters
