Bardella denies alleged 2013 antisemitic writings and prepares new legal action

Jordan Bardella again rejected Mediapart’s claim that he authored antisemitic texts in 2013, calling the accusations baseless during an LCI interview.

Jordan Bardella, head of the Rassemblement national, appeared on LCI to again repudiate the series of antisemitic writings Mediapart attributes to him from 2013, labeling the claims as “ignoble” and unfounded. He dismissed the outlet’s sourcing and authentication process, asserting he has never expressed such views and that he remains committed to fighting antisemitism. Bardella reiterated his earlier defamation complaint against Mediapart and revealed a forthcoming lawsuit alleging falsified evidence and false use of documents.

He rejected the notion of invoking a “youthful mistake” defense, insisting that any alleged statements are not his. The politician called for a calmer public discourse focused on France’s issues rather than what he described as media hysteria. He concluded by urging a return to normal political debate.

Why it matters

The denial and new lawsuits keep a high-profile political controversy over alleged extremist past statements in the public eye.
