Barnaby Joyce says he’s in talks with senior Liberals about post-2028 confidence and supply
One Nation leader Barnaby Joyce told News24 he has spoken with “very, very senior Liberals” about a confidence-and-supply arrangement after the 2028 federal election, but declined to name the individuals.
Barnaby Joyce, the One Nation MP, told News24 he had been in contact with “very, very senior Liberals” on Tuesday morning about a potential confidence-and-supply deal following the 2028 federal election. He refused to disclose whether the talks included Opposition Leader Angus Taylor or Nationals leader Matt Canavan, saying he was unsure if disclosure was appropriate. Joyce emphasized that One Nation would support the Coalition only if its policy outcomes were acknowledged and legislation was scrutinised case-by-case.
He asserted that the Coalition is expected to extend confidence and supply, which aligns with One Nation’s stated aim of removing “the socialists.” Joyce also referenced the party’s seventh-place preference ranking in the Farrer by-election and its higher ranking of the Nationals and Liberals. Pauline Hanson has previously signalled willingness to offer confidence and supply but ruled out a formal coalition.
