Barstool Sports and Dave Portnoy removed from Fox's college football pregame show

Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports will no longer appear on Fox's "Big Noon Kickoff" after a dispute involving Ohio State and coach Ryan Day.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy announced that he and other Barstool figures have been taken off Fox's premier college football pre-game show, "Big Noon Kickoff." Portnoy blamed Ohio State University and head coach Ryan Day for pressuring the network, alleging repeated threats over comments he made. Fox has not publicly detailed the decision, but anonymous sources indicated that the partnership struggled to merge Fox's conventional presentation with Barstool's more provocative style, making the arrangement unsustainable.

The removal follows a year-long partnership that began when Fox partnered with Barstool. While the flagship show loses Barstool talent, other Barstool programming like "Wake Up Barstool" on FS1 remains on air, and the company continues its own college football coverage.

Why it matters

The split highlights tensions between traditional sports broadcasters and newer, edgier media brands.
