Base jumper dies after wingsuit fails during 213-meter jump in Utah
A man attempting a BASE jump from a 213-meter point near Hyrum, Utah, crashed and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities in Cache County said a BASE jump from roughly 700 feet (213 meters) near Hyrum, Utah, ended in tragedy when the participant's wingsuit failed to generate enough lift. The jumper, described as an experienced athlete, was part of a multi-person group that arrived at the Leetham’s Hollow location for the jump. Rescue teams were dispatched at about 9 a.m. local time and found the man already deceased, with the recovery team later handling the body.
Officials have not released the individual's name pending family notification. The incident is under investigation by local law enforcement, adding to a series of recent fatal BASE accidents in the state.
