Batu Pahat schools shut down as API spikes to very unhealthy 203 level

All schools in Batu Pahat will remain closed tomorrow after the Air Pollutant Index reached 203, a very unhealthy reading.

The district’s API reading hit 203 at 8 p.m., prompting authorities to suspend classes for the following day. District officer Kamalludin Jamal, who also chairs the local Disaster Management Committee, said the move follows the National Haze Action Plan and Education Ministry rules that tie school operations to air quality levels. The decision aims to protect students from hazardous haze conditions.

Why it matters

High haze levels pose health risks, so closing schools protects children from dangerous air quality.
