Bayer Leverkusen near record €38m signing of Guela Doué from Strasbourg
Bayer Leverkusen is poised to complete a €38 million transfer for right-back Guela Doué, pending his medical exam.
Bayer Leverkusen is set to sign Guela Doué, the 23-year-old right-back who represents the Ivory Coast, for an estimated €38 million from RC Strasbourg, according to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano. The transaction remains contingent on Doué completing a medical examination. If finalized, the amount would become the highest ever paid by the German side, overtaking the €35 million fee for Malik Tillman acquired from PSV in 2025.
The move follows recent reports that Bayer has also arranged the return of Moussa Diaby for just under €30 million. With these additions, the club's transfer outlay, already at €99 million, is expected to rise further. Doué is the brother of PSG forward Désiré Doué, adding a familial link to the high-profile signing.
Why it matters
The transfer could make Doué Bayer's most expensive signing, signalling the club's aggressive investment in talent.
