Bayonne Little League clinches regional title, earns first World Series berth

Bayonne's Little League All-Stars overcame a 4-0 hole in the first inning of the Metro Regional final in Bristol, Connecticut, rallying three times to level the score at 6-6. A decisive single by Jett Bridges gave them a 7-6 edge, and starter Chase Klimkowski added an insurance run. Mason Rincon, who also pitched in relief, closed the sixth inning with a strikeout, two groundouts and the final out.

The 8-6 win crowned Bayonne as Metro Regional champions and secured the city’s inaugural berth in the Little League World Series. The team, unbeaten at 15-0 this summer, will travel to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where the World Series runs Aug. 19-30, and will face the Bridegwater, Mass. squad on Wednesday night. Assistant coach Gabe Garcia praised the players’ resilience after the comeback.
