BC Conservative leader expels three MLAs amid internal turmoil

Kerry-Lynne Findlay, leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, declared that Trevor Halford, Claire Rattée and John Rustad are removed from the party caucus effective immediately. She framed the decision as necessary to focus on defeating Premier David Eby’s NDP government ahead of a potential election. Rattée responded on X, refusing to step down and alleging that nine MLAs have already left the caucus since Findlay took leadership, citing claims of paid resignations, staff scandals and poor communication.

Earlier reports revealed a former party director hired a private investigator to look into 14 individuals, including party members and a journalist, with Rattée saying she was among those targeted. Rustad and Halford have not publicly commented. Findlay’s statement emphasized eliminating internal power struggles and prioritizing the party’s electoral goals.
