BC RCMP leader removed amid undisclosed allegations, John Brewer appointed
The deputy commissioner and BC RCMP commanding officer, Dwayne McDonald, was relieved of his duties over unspecified allegations from 2016-2018, and John Brewer took over.
According to a statement from RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme, the deputy commissioner and British Columbia RCMP commanding officer, Dwayne McDonald, has been removed from his position because of allegations covering the period from 2016 to 2018. The nature of the claims has not been disclosed, and they are currently under investigation. John Brewer, formerly the head of BC's extortion task force, has been appointed to fill the vacancy.
McDonald previously served as the top officer for the Surrey RCMP and oversaw federal and organized crime investigations in the province. Duheme assured the public that the change will not affect RCMP operations or policing services in the region. The force declined to provide further details at this time.
