Bedrock Robotics secures $600 million as autonomous excavators hit real construction sites
Bedrock Robotics closed a $600 million Series C round that values the two-year-old startup at $4.1 billion, while its self-driving excavators begin commercial work on active projects.
Bedrock Robotics announced a $600 million Series C financing that lifts its valuation to $4.1 billion, marking rapid growth for the startup founded in 2024 by veterans of Waymo and Anki Robotics. Its autonomous-driving kit is now installed on excavators working at a Nevada water-treatment facility, a Texas earth-work operation run by Champion Site Prep, and a 1.2-million-cubic-yard civil project with Zachry Construction.
The round, co-led by CapitalG and Emergence Capital, also attracted US Innovative Technology Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, Temasek and several existing investors. Bedrock plans to expand deployments to more construction sites and has hired Amy Jones Satrom as VP of Operations and Lando Juarez as general counsel. The company cites a looming labor gap, with more than 40 % of construction workers expected to retire within five years, as a key driver for its autonomous excavator push. New partner Haydon, based in Arizona, will use the technology across diverse projects including data centers and healthcare facilities.
Why it matters
The financing accelerates deployment of autonomous excavators, a technology poised to offset a looming skilled-labor shortage in construction.
