Belgian ex-U18 footballer sentenced to five years for raping French teen in Malta
A 20-year-old Belgian, former Belgium U18 footballer, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old French student in Malta.
A court in Malta handed a five-year custodial sentence to Dany M.K., a 20-year-old Belgian and former Belgium U18 footballer, for the rape of a 17-year-old French student who was in Malta to study English. The victim was lured to the perpetrator’s apartment, forced to consume large amounts of vodka, lost consciousness, and awoke to being raped while an accomplice restrained her; the assault was recorded on the attackers’ phones.
A 16-year-old Swiss friend was also seized, beaten and threatened during the incident. Police recovered the videos from the suspects’ devices and charged Dany M.K. with rape, unlawful detention of minors, and assault, while other participants face related charges. The five Belgian suspects were arrested at Malta’s airport shortly before departing the island. The sentencing follows earlier convictions of other group members for related offenses.
