Belkin rolls out semi-solid-state power banks promising three-fold longer life
Belkin has launched two new power banks that use semi-solid-state battery technology, which the company says can last up to three times longer than typical models.
Belkin joins rivals such as BMX, Kuxiu and Zens in introducing power banks that feature semi-solid-state batteries, which the firm claims can operate up to three times longer before replacement. The BoostSolid Cell design adds a gel-like layer to the conventional liquid electrolyte, reducing the chance of overheating, swelling or fire and delivering steady power across a broader temperature range. The UltraCharge Pro Slim Magnetic Power Bank 5K Qi2 provides 5,000 mAh, is 40 % slimmer than competing units, attaches magnetically to compatible phones and supplies up to 15 W wirelessly, with a USB-C port delivering up to 22.5 W. The larger UltraCharge Pro Power Bank 10K offers 10,000 mAh, a built-in display of charge level and temperature, and up to 60 W output via USB-C, though output drops when multiple devices are connected. Prices are $69.99 for the smaller model and $89.99 for the larger, reflecting a premium for the longer functional lifespan.
