Beloved TV actress Stephanie Cole passes away at 84
Actress Stephanie Cole, known for roles in Coronation Street, Tenko and Doc Martin, died at age 84 after living with Alzheimer’s disease.
Stephanie Cole, a distinguished English actress, died at 84 following a period of living with Alzheimer’s disease, her agent John Grant said on Friday. Cole’s career spanned decades, featuring memorable characters like Dr Bea Mason in the World-War-II drama Tenko, the village resident Jean Norton in the ITV series Doc Martin, and the mother of Roy Cropper, Sylvia Goodwin, on Coronation Street. Born in Warwickshire in 1941, she honed her craft at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before becoming a household name.
In 2005 she was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for contributions to drama, the elderly and mental-health charities. The family has requested privacy as they mourn her loss.
