Benn Dismisses Garcia as ‘Gen Z’ Opponent Ahead of Welterweight Title Clash
Conor Benn says he and Ryan Garcia are fundamentally different, calling the American a “Gen Z kid” seeking an easy life before their upcoming welterweight title fight in Las Vegas.
Conor Benn described his upcoming opponent Ryan Garcia as a “Gen Z kid who wants an easy life,” emphasizing that their mindsets and values differ sharply. Benn, 29, will challenge Garcia, 28, for the WBC welterweight championship at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, marking Benn’s debut world-title fight and Garcia’s first defense. Benn’s recent victories include a points win over Regis Prograis and a knockout of Chris Eubank Jr., the fighter who handed him his only loss in April 2025.
Garcia earned the belt by outpointing Mario Barrios in February after recovering from a decision loss to Rolly Romero, and he previously fell to Gervonta Davis in 2023. Benn said he prefers hard work and long-term success over an easy path, and he aims to test his limits against the best.
